Energy, the environment and human health have emerged as strategic priorities not only in research but in all aspects of our lives. Hybrid materials have already demonstrated good promise in addressing and offering solutions in each of these priority areas.

The main objective of this new interdisciplinary conference is to bring together, for the first time at a truly international level, people with  shared interests in hybrid materials, including:

  • Polymer chemists, physicists and engineers
  • Biomaterials chemists, physicists and engineers
  • Organic chemists
  • Inorganic chemists
  • Solid state chemists
  • Sol-gel chemists
  • Composites scientists
  • Colloid chemists and physicists
  • Zeolite, meso- and microporous materials scientists
  • Broad nano- and materials scientists

By creating this unique forum for exchange of knowledge between all these distinct research communities and the related industries, we hope to offer possibilities for new collaborations and potential synergies.

The conference will start on Sunday (15 March) at 14:00 and finish on Thursday (19 March) at 16:00. Each day will start will a Plenary Lecture followed by 3 parallel symposia focusing on the following topics: Biohybrids and biomaterials; Bottom-up approaches to functional nanomaterials and nanocomposites; Functional porous materials.

The programme will include 5 plenary talks, 3 tutorials, 33 invited/featured talks, 117 oral presentations and several hundred poster presentations in 3 poster sessions. Contributions from all over the world will cover a wide range of topics ranging from design, synthesis, processing to applications in separation, energy generation and storage, catalysis, sensors, optics, microelectronics, smart materials and coatings, biotechnology and medicine.

Call for Papers

Abstracts are invited for oral and poster presentation on the above topics. Abstracts should be submitted via the Online Submission Form by 15 September 2008.

Official Language

The official language of the conference will be English.
