María Vallet-Regí

Professor María Vallet-Regí is full profesor of Inorganic Chemistry. She is full member of the Spanish Royal Academy of Engineering (RAI) since 2004, and member of Centro de Investigación Biomédica en Red, Bioingeniería, Biomateriales y Nanomedicina (CIBER-BBN) network.

Prof. Vallet-Regí has written more than 500 articles and more than 20 books. She is the most cited Spanish scientist (regardless the gender), according to ISI Web of Knowledge, in the field of Materials Science in this last decade.

Prof. Vallet-Regí has received many awards including: the French-Spanish award of the year 2000 from the Societé Française de Chimie; the Inorganic Chemistry award 2008 from the Spanish Royal Society of Chemistry; the 2008 Spanish National Research Award “Leonardo Torres Quevedo” in the field of Engineering.

Prof. Vallet-Regí is member of several International Editorial Boards. Her research interest are focused on solid state chemistry, focused at present on bioceramics, controlled drug release; bioactive organic-inorganic hybrids; mesoporous materials; synthesis and biomedical applications of nanoparticles and tissue engineering scaffolds.

Prof. Vallet-Regí is the pioneer in the employment of silica-based ordered mesoporous materials as controlled release systems of biologically active molecules since 2001.
