Andreas Greiner received his Ph D. degree in Chemistry from the University of Marburg in 1988. In 1989 he joined University of California as postdoc, Santa Barbara, USA. In 1999 he was appointed associate professor for organic chemistry and macromolecular chemistry at the University of Mainz and became head of the TransMIT Center for Plastic Science. In 2000 he was appointed full professor for polymer chemistry and technology at the University of Marburg. Present research topics are general monomer and polymer synthesis, electrospinning of polymer nanofibers, polymer-functionalized nanoparticles, poly(p-xylylene)s, functional polymer dispersions, polymers for filtration, textiles, pharmacy, and agriculture.
