Professor Decher has studied chemistry in Marburg/Germany and in the United States and received his doctoral degree in Mainz/Germany. Since 1995 he works at CNRS "Institut Charles Sadron". Since the same time he is full professor of chemistry and since 2006 distinguished professor at the "Université de Strasbourg" in France. He is the pioneer of the so-called layer-by-layer assembly method which has become a highly popular technique for the preparation of hybrid nanoscale coatings (over 6500 publications by over 300 teams worldwide). In 2009 Prof. Decher received the Grand Prix of the “Académie des sciences” for nanobiotechnology “Emilia Valori”, he is senior member of the “Institut universitaire de France”.
