Philippe Belleville made his Ph.D. sol-gel work in the Pierre & Marie Curie Paris University from 1988 to 1991 (Prof. J. Livage Laboratory). Since 1991, he is working for the French Commission for Atomic Energy (CEA) as a research engineer and has been recently named as senior scientist in sol–gel process for CEA. He has worked to prepare innovative coating materials in association with the development of adapted liquid medium deposition techniques. First mainly devoted to high power laser optics, the sol-gel materials developed today through his impulse address many different applications : windows, displays, ophthalmic lenses, optical fibres, solar cells, fuel cells, micro-electronic devices, sensors… He is the author of more than 30 publications and more than 20 patents. He was successful in leading 6 industrial technology transfers. He is member of the Sol-Gel Optics Program Committee since 2000 and member of the International Sol-Gel Society (ISGS) board of directors since 2007. He was the recipient of the 2003 Ulrich Award for Excellence in Sol–Gel Technology. Since 2004, he is promoting sol-gel process inside French community, organizing the sol-gel French conference bringing together more than 120 people every year from both scientific and industrial labs. He is editor of the French sol-gel web site (www.solgel.fr - link will open in a new window) aiming to aggregate the national sol-gel researchers and users. |
